...soft plastic frogs???

Today I picked up some zoom horny toads in watermelon crawfish

I've never fished these before, but I was going to use them as a follow up bait for missed blow ups on my hollow body frogs...

I was wondering if anyone has any tips for fishing them, including preferences for rigging them (what hooks in particular you like)...

Thanks in advance fellas laugh

Zoom are a little more subtle than my favorite, Stanley Ribbits.

do you fish em on a screw lock double hook (frog hooks)?? or some other hook? and weighted or weightless?

and how do you work it? pull it across matted grass just like a hollow body? or are we talking about trying to work it on top of the water in open water? or maybe letting it sink a little and working it underwater?? lol I really don't know the first thing about this bait... I was just drawn in by the coloration of these ones in particular, and got to thinkin they would be a good follow up for a hollow frog

I fish them with the screw lock double hook and usually weightless. You can retrieve them several different ways, I have the best luck letting it sink, jerking it back to the surface then let it sink again.

Fish it on top in a constant retrieve across any grass cover and along the edges of that cover. Keep it moving nice and slow.

I like the one big hook with a small belly weight. Skin hook the hook on its back. Just enough weight to make it flip over, then start the retrieve.

Your best follow up bait for a missed blow up on a hollow body or spook is a FLUKE. Just put a 1/32 oz. split bullet pinch weight on the line at the nose and let it fall in right beside the frog. When they miss the frog don't move it, just let it sit and pick up the Fluke rod and cast to it. Works almost every time.

Donald, Great information on the follow up fluke. What color do you normally use?

I use the frog sticker by bayou tackle at lake fork on my toads. Helps to keep it from flipping as you drag it over the pads. Just tried the new hollow frog by Stanley after talking to Lonnie at the Skeeter owners tournament. You can buzz it like a ribbit or fish it slow since it floats, even with a weighted double take hook. Still playing around with the frog thing.
