With "go-fast" boats aside... I think Bass-Cat and Triton are the only boats that can break 80mph right off the floor with a 250. As far as hulls, I think for Cats it's the Eyra (Im sure there is more but Im not sure which ones. Someone more familiar with Bass-Cats can chime in.) and Triton its the older TR series, the HP's, and the New TRX.

Randy Howell (Elite Series) runs a Triton with 250 Merc Pro XS and his boat is the fastest boat in the elite series. That's not from me, that is from about 5 or 6 other elite series pro's who say the same thing. Supposedly, he can hit 78 by himself with gear.

Everything on your bass boat is broken......You just don't know it yet.

I have a basscat couger ftd that runs in the 80's but if you want a faster 20' cat I would buy an eyra.

I seen a you tube video where he hit 82 on the gps.

I have heard a couple of folks on here rule out the Allison for being "not fishable". That used to be the case, however most of the newer 21' Allisons will rival any of the more mainstream bass boats out there in fishability AND will run circles around them. Plus, the quality of an Allison is just something you need to see. I love mine and have not seen anything I would trade it for. I do, however, miss my Bullet from time to time.

A BassCat Cougar is a legit 80mph. Boat with a 250 ProXs. Mine is a '08 and rated for up to 300hp. That would push it up to the high 80's if not 90 with proper set up. They fish very well and truely are the total performance package. I'm not so sure the new Cougars, Pumas and Eyras might be unlimited on their HP ratings now.

Going fast in a bass boat is like a chit sandwich....The more bread you got..the less chit you eat....

It would be hard to dodge all the stumps at 80mph plus that's my 2 cents worth.

Guys with slow boats always can come up with multiple reasons why running fast is not for them, yet almost everyone of them are changing props, changing jackplates, etc...trying to make their slow boat run 71 instead of 69. If you get a fast boat from the beginning, you can drive it as slow as you want but have the speed when you need it. Main thing is to be comfortable driving what you got and be safe with it.

Not the fastest, but she's sexy! My top speed is 72.5mph, but I haven't really gotten into her seriously. I only get to drive her about once every 2 months. Once life slows down a little, thinking about a bob's hydraulic plate, and some other minor performance upgrades.

They don't automatically go to 80mph when you put them in gear.

Fuel efficiency is nice also, if you have a boat that will run 74-5 maxed out and you are running that speed your gonna burn alot more fuel than a guy that can run in the 90's if he wants, but is just cruising along at 75.

I burn a heck of alot less gas in my bullet than I did in my skeeter....
