went up Saturday and fished with fishead guide service on sunday and fished on our own Monday and Tuesday. flat out hammered the fish on red worms from 7am to 9am. 9am to noon they wanted the mayfly larva, pretty dead from noon til 3pm, 3pm to 6pm zebra midges and these black emergers(I dont remember the exact name) were best.
the one thing I've never experienced before was the size of dries we used the last hour of sunlight and an hour after sunset. the guide had given us some big floaters to use and after having fish break them off, we started throwing stone fly's and salmon flies.
overall it was an awesome 3 days but I never broke the 20" barrier. 2 of the other 3 guys I went with broke 20" 3 or 4 times each. such a great place to fish and I encourage anyone who's never been there to go. worth every penny.

yeah but I've never learned how to get'em on the forum. I should probably try and figure it out since I've been on here 4 years now.

That does look like a great trip. I would love to take some trips Luke that someday. I do not know why but I have always wanted to go to Vancouver

Browns are a little rare in the SJ. Nice catch. Can't wait to go there.

I fished the San Juan in March for the first time in years. I was struck by how many browns we caught, especially big browns, and how many fish we caught on streamers. On my first day on the river we started at the Texas Hole and I tied on a Guadalupana fly in a size 8 and caught two browns and four rainbows before we even left the Hole.

I'm new to fly fishing and have only fished the Kenai/Russian and Lower Mountain Fork with some East Texas lakes and ponds in the mix. Thanks to a lot of info from the TFF, the dog and I are heading to fish the San Juan next week. Can't wait to try and catch some Browns. Never caught one.

Here's one over 20" caught up around Andy's Island in the C&R area.
