It was fun - the wind was pretty brutal but I think almost everyone catch some fish. Even one fishing pole was caught but that was with an anchor.
Thanks for putting it on! Looking forward to the next one!

The wind was definitely a beating today. I was able to catch my five to put me at just under 80" for the day giving me the win. I only had two fish the majority of the morning but in the last hour I went back just northwest of the ramp area where I had caught some smaller ones. I was just going to waste my time there but I managed to put three more into the yak.

All my fish were caught on a 1/4 ounce black grass jig with a black/blue crawfish type trailer.

Thanks again for putting this on Terry. Nice meeting everyone out there definitely a good bunch of guys. Can't wait for the next one!

I was great. I was able to catch 3 dinks, but it was at least 3 more than I caught last time. LOL. Looking forward to the next one. Congrats again Albert! And a super thanks to Terry to pick up the ball and get this thing rolling!

Yeah congrats to Albert for sure. 80" in those winds is killer.

Congrats to the winners...and to everyone who braved the wind. All are winners in my book!

How thick are the pads on FVS? Is the lake choked with them yet? I'm planning a tentative trip there for next Tuesday, and am wondering how tough a time I'd have getting through the pads in my 2-man. Help, please.

Despite unusually strong winds for this time of the year, ten anglers showed up Saturday to fish the Kayak Classic on Southlake. While most anglers reported tough conditions Albert Lopez, fishing out of his Hobie Pro Angler, was able to battle through the wind and figure out the winning pattern and earn a nice payday to go along with it. I struggled most of the morning quickly finding out that my anchor wasn't big enough to hold me in the gale force winds. I had a few small fish early on soft plastics but couldn't get the bigger bites needed until I switched over to a Strike King Square Bill and started covering water. Caught two fish over 18 inches to bring me into second place. Robby Orth cashed the big bag pot, catching his fish in the final moments of the tournament and proving that the "never give up" mentality pays off.

Hats off to all the anglers who braved the conditions, without the wind I bet we would have had close to 20 guys ready to throw down.

Final Results:

First Place: Albert Lopez w/5 fish for 80"
Second Place: Terry Williams w/2 fish for 36.5"
Big Bass: Robby Orth 18.25"
