Pelagic smoke any other glasses... Ask the true saltwater captains, the majority I have seen and talked to say Pelagic truly are better than costa

I just bought a pair of the Costa Blackfin 580G, copper lense (they don't offer amber) with the green tint. I was just down in the tropics for a week and tried them out extensively. I was left a little underwhelmed. They are great glasses don't get me wrong, but I feel like my previous pair of Wiley X's allowed me to see in the water better. To be fair I have not yet tried them out in freshwater, but I suspect the verdict will be similar. Here's another tip, buy them on E-bay you'll save about 30% of the retail price.

Also to be fair I was replacing the Wiley X's because the lenses had gotten all scratched up. The costa 580G's are supposed to have a lot more longevity in that regard. In addition the Wiley X's did not stay on my melon well at high speed.

Surprised that nobody uses Gargoyles. I have had a pair for the last two years and they are great. They are carbon fiber frames, painted matte black. They are so light you almost forget you are wearing them. They have polarized lenses that are ANSI and CE certified for safety as well in the event that a jig comes to visit your face on a huge hookset and miss! Also: they are a good deal at <$250 with case.

Not many people weighing in on lens colors here so I will.
I much prefer amber lenses to the green or gray but others may have different opinions. I am just getting back into bass fishing but have spent the last 15 years mostly sight fishing the coast for reds. The amber lenses really work well in those bay flats and I am feeling like they work well for freshwater. I think the green is better for the deep water offshore stuff. Not sure what gray is best for.
All this said I have Costas and Maui Jims. I think they are both about the same but I am wearing the Maui Jims more since they are my everyday sunglasses and have a bit more style in the design. Look less like fishing glasses.

The Costa's have a green or blue finish on the outside of the lens, but the actual lens material is typically copper, amber, grey etc... In my opinion amber is definitely the best, but don't be scared away because the front of the lens has a different color finish. The actual lens color is what really matters.

I have a pair of amber lens costas and a pair of green lens Maui Jim's. I much prefer the maui's myself. The green lens color really makes those green fish pop while sight fishing.
