The thing is Bill has been fishing that lake ever sense it was built and the Devils River lakes before that. He has seen that island come out of the water many times over the last 50 years. It goes to show you no matter how well you know a lake, running in the dark anything can happen when you leave that river channel during low water times.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

Guys who run Amistad in the dark are nuts. I don't care how well you know that lake. There are bars EVERYWHERE, regardless of pool level. I've been watching the graph while running it and I have gone from 75ft to less than 3ft in less than 2 or 3 seconds. . .

I get the jitters running it during the day with as low as it is. I see a lot of boats go WOT from the launch and it's dark as........well you know. I stopped riding with others and take my boat on all my trips and tournaments. Almost lost my life at Falcon running in the dark. One of those big post that separates US and Mexico almost went through the boat I was riding in. Driver never saw it and that was my last ride with him and in the dark.

Prolly roll it off the bar with small joints of schedule 80 PVC.

seen one like this on T-wok right out of the state park going east when the lake was low - same deal - running in the dark - they hired a guide with a big rope to pull them off - they stopped dead center - 30-40 yards in either direction was water.....

'Ring Ring' - 'Uh we are going to be a little late to take off...'
Me - "where you at?"
Them - "Look to your right when the sun comes up"
Me - "Want me to come check your livewells?"

... I walked to where they were beached.
