I've kayaked quite a bit up river by the nature center this year and I've seen about a 7-8 foot alligator only once though.

Exactly!

God and soldiers, we adore
In times of danger, not before
With the danger safely righted
God is forgotten, and soldiers slighted

So this cottonmouth was on the surface of the water one second and the next he is lunging at you through the air? BS!

Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

yes. He struck at me. I was below lake worth dam on the east side of the island in the middle. And I was right off the ledge in 4 ft of water. And I jumped back on the island and up the rock wall as he struck at me he was on the island....why would I make that up? Lol.

I'm no expert, but it looks like to me "SNAKES" can move like lightning when they want too.

+1 isnt wasnt a cottonmouth says my $20
It is rare for a cottonmouth to be in the open water, they cruise close to the banks when hunting
743 different what if's wont change studied data, excluding my many decades of snake wrangling.

If you impede the forward progress of a cottonmouth in the water it will strike at you
because you are the threat.

why must people always question others lol. It WAS a water moccasin not a banded water snake. I've tangled with enough snakes to know the difference between a venomous snake and a non venomous snake. And if out read my post you would've read that not only was I close to the bank and not in open water but I was in a creek covered with submerged Reed beds on the bank and alot down timher

Dont confuse question with opinion.
Especially regarding snakes
