I am thinking about buying two Talons. I like the 10 and 12 foot models. I am not interested in Power Poles. My fishing partner has Power Poles and they are loud and have had several issues with cracking and hydraulic failures. Does anyone have the New models? If so please P.M. me and let me know your impressions of them. I would also be interested in where you purchased and who installed. Thank you.
Take a kid fishing today.....

The new talons are really slick. I've fished in a boat with the 12foot model, I am a believer now! I love my power poles but if it came down to it, I would change if I had to.

Thanks pardner but, I'll wait. Cal is the only marine mechanic to touch my rig so, I think I'll stay with him. He's doing his best, he is just GOOD. Good marine mechanics are very busy right now....and this man is one! Thank you for your kind offer, God Bless I can help you out , I have dones several and have references. Lee, I don't own a Talon (I'm a PP guy) but how much does the 12' Talon weigh? I'd be concerned with weight and balance putting only one on a 17'6" boat.

Don't be, it only weighs 47 1/2lbs. Even with two, the balance of the boat would not be affected. But, I'm only having one installed (for now). God Bless Lee, I don't own a Talon (I'm a PP guy) but how much does the 12' Talon weigh? I'd be concerned with weight and balance putting only one on a 17'6" boat.

I have two of the 12' models, installed them on my own. They have a little weight to them, especially with the tilt brackets and the universal brackets. I've seen several smaller john boats with a single PP, but can't ever recall seeing a small boat with a single Talon. Not that a 17'6 Stratos is a small boat. The last boat I owned was a 275 XL, and I had a lot of fun in that boat.

Not mean to jack your thread. I've been thinking about getting them. I have a 2013 Deep-V Targa 18 combo fish n ski boat. Will the talons fit/work on my boat? My boat

Zman, did you make your decision? 12' Talon sure seems to be the choice. Don't think you will go wrong. David @ ShutUp&Fish I think has the lowest price but, check with him for the Talons and all the hardware accessories.. Like to hear when you get them on and what you think. God Bless

I recently installed two 12' talons, did it myself and they weigh more than 47lbs. I'm not a small guy and it was a chore installing and adjusting solo. Bought from David at shut up and fish. I'm really happy with them, they do exactly what they are supposed to do!

It took me two days in the heat last weekend to do it.. I used the sandwich mounts, not that bad installing them... one side at a time. Neede to get longer bolts. Will be testing this weekend...

Yep thats probably closer to actual weight plus Ive got the universal transom bracket. Not technically difficult to install just awkward holding it up trying to bolt. You really need three hands

The quoted 47 1/2lbs is what Hummingbird told me BUT, they did not tell me how much the sandwich bracket/fold over bracket/etc. all add to. My mechanic seems to think it's going to be more. But, should be ok. Whew! Hope this works out...next year.....another Talon, or , Power Pole? God Bless Lee, I don't own a Talon (I'm a PP guy) but how much does the 12' Talon weigh? But, plainly labeled on the box it says, "Installs as easily as a trolling motor"!! Right! I guess on the new trolling motors you have to remove the motor too....LOL. Thank you all for your input. I appreciate the PM's and I will definitely have to research the Talons more. I found out that I can only get one because two will block my ladder. I take my kids fishing alot and they like to swim and I need the ladder to get them in the boat.....Just adds more to my decision making.

A ladder is a 'safety device'. You may NEVER need it but, man if you do, it's PRICELESS! Question: Would installing Power Poles afford you anymore room? God Bless

** One thing I did NOT consider: If you have a boat cover, with either Talon (my choice) or Power Pole, will the dang boat cover STILL fit the boat? Would it cover the shallow water anchor of your choice as well? Man, if I have to buy yet another boat cover, that is not going to be pretty or go over well with my 'boss', , the wife! God Bless

I put 2 12ft talons on my 07 zx250 with a 250 hpdi. Holeshot bit the dust. My partner, about 220lbs, I could feel the boat lean with him moving side to side it never did that before. All in all I would do it again. Excellent addition to my style of fishing. BTW installed by myself w/ help from my 11yo grandson.

Hey Lee.. Here is what mine look like. Tried them out Friday. Think I have some adjustments to do. They displace a lot of water and really reduced my hole shot ad getting on plain.

Man they look GREAT!!! Pea-green with envy. Maybe next year I can get a second one. Sounds like your right, just some adjustment to be done. I agree, great addition to add to the 'fishing experience'! God Bless Hey Lee.. Here is what mine look like. Tried them out Friday. Think I have some adjustments to do. Just put a second one on my Ranger Reata. The port one blocks my ladder but i am going to see a fabrication tech to see if they can modify my ladder to still work. I think having two on a Reata makes it look like a boat ready to do business...Ha!. Love 'em!
