I'm going fishing for catfish today (hopefully channel) and I don't have a boat. I'm wondering what are some rigs for bankfishing. I have a three way rig on one pole, and on my other pole I have a float, 1oz weight, and a 3/0 hook. I'm not sure if these will work, I've never done cat fishing before. And what would be good bait? I was gonna catch some perch and cut them and put them on as bait, but it was wondering if the stink bait at academy works? Thanks!

When I bank fish for cats, I almost always use a three way rig with a 1 oz weight. As far as bait goes, it's hard to beat fresh bait, either cut or whole. Stink bait does work well for eater size channel cats too though. Float or slip bobber rig would work for stink bait. You may try different bait on each rod and see what the fish are biting on and go with that.
Everyone should believe in something; I believe Ill go fishing.

I use the 3way swivel with a 2oz weight and a large J hook with a floater. Then I use live minnows (Large) and let them swim around about 12-18inch off the bottom. so far its working great

On my three way I have a 3oz disc weight, a 4/0 circle hook, and a small float on the line that the hook's on. The wind will be at about 10mph, should I change the weight at all?

I think your weight should depend on where you plan on fishing. If you're fishing still water and current is not an issue, 1-2 oz weights should be sufficient. Then again, I've never used a float when I'm fishing on the bottom so I don't know if 1-2 oz is enough for your setup.

I put the small float on there so it keeps the hook afloat and not down next to the weight.

No luck tonight. All I caught was a little striped bass. I'm gonna try and go back tomorrow morning with a different rig.

I am not that experienced in catfishing but I did learn that fresh cut shad works the best. Carp, buffalo and cut perch are good as well. Try to fish with live perch and maybe you'll catch some flatheads.

Fish are spawning at benbrook. So the bite isn't gonna be that great....My rod and reels are pretty much put up til August except for that rare occasion that I decide to go....
