Been looking around online and i saw one IGFA record for 5.3 pounds! Did not see a pic of it though. Is there an official record?

I read somewhere that it was more like 6lbs

seems to be lots of confusion on that topic fur shur
I seen several different weights in that category
all the fish were over 5 though
low five pound range was the predominant find
if memory serves me right the white crappie record was slightly larger
than the black crappie record
did see chatter bout a 6 pounder as well though
the good news IGFA don't care if it comes from private or public waters

The world record crappie was caught in 1969 by Lettie Robertson was a black at 6.00 lbs. the IGFA has records of some heavy fish taken also

World record black crappie is 6 pounds even and was caught in 1969 in La. The record white crappie is 5.3 pounds and was caught 1959 in Mississippi. To my knowledge there is no picture of the black crappie but there is a picture of the white crappie.

Back in the 80's a friend of mine caught a 4.75 white crappie on a yo-yo just north of Bossier City, LA. When he brought it over to the house to weigh it, it had been on ice about 10 hours.He didn't want to mess with the paperwork so he had a friend mount it.

the "official" state record in Louisiana is under 4 pounds according to the state folks btw
