So a good buddy of mine is retiring soon and he is the one that got me into bass fishing. I've learned a lot from this guy over the years. He has always wanted a set of power poles but could never afford them. I have saved for several months and am going to surprise him with a set on his boat. I have never used the darn things and had a few questions.
First off the boat is a well kept 2003 ranger 519

1. If you get one is it true you may as well get the second one
2. What size ? He likes to fish shallow more than anything < 5 feet of water
3. There seems to be several kinds of PP, which ones do you recommend.

Thanks guys.

8 or 10ft blades, 2 poles necessary, 1 pole gives you 25% of the potential.

Thanks for the replies . I have one more question that I forgot to ask. He keeps his boat in my garage. Garage door dimensions are 10 feet wide x 9 feet tall x 24.5 feet deep. I know the length is fine but do they fold down or is my garage door tall enough to clear? The inside of the garage is much taller .

You will be fine getting into the garage. You may have to drop them a few inches until you get past the garage door.
Power Poles Blades are on a 4 week back order as of today.
Pro2 poles are in stock.

Call me and I will help you on pricing for what your doing for your buddy.

I will get the 10' probably next time. I have two 8' now. I don't have any problems with the garage door, but I have a very high door that the boat is stored in.

One is better than none. We had one on the first boat. Two work better. You don't spin with two like you do with one.

The 8' power pole sportsman II has served me well.

dont have to have two but it is nice. one will hold you but the wind will spin the boat. I have the pro series 2 and they are all you need. they have the same pump and amenities as the blades and actually by the website lighter than the blades. whole lot cheaper too.

I struggle getting my friends out to the lake with me... let alone having them buy me power poles! Not to sound like a lady, but do you have a brother or something? hahaha

I'll second the Sportsman II. I've used one for some time and it suited me a lot better than none. I just got a 2nd one and it's a lot nicer to have the 2nd one, but definitely not a necessity.

Sportsman 2 will save you money, just as sturdy and as long as the 8 foot blade.
