For a started a Nitro definitely and this one may be the way to go. May still have some warranty and has already taken the cliff dive in value that all boats take. Former owner, love the ride. With the difference in the interest rates between new and used you might check into a new one as well........but you have to consider as well the amount of money you will save on interest versus how much the boat will devalue over the first 2 years. Its always interesting when you really get serious about buying......... but......you get warranty with a new one and believe me that comes in handy. I speak from experience after grenading 3 motors.......

That part, I have to disagree. The 18 foot boats are hard to find and when you compare prices, they lose a lot less value as each year goes by. I see $60,000 boats sell for $35,000 sfter 4 years, but a $25,000 18 foot boat sells for $18,00 after 4 years. As I was signing the papers on my 18 foot Triton, other people were calling about it. People want a boat that you can keep in a garage. Maybe not on Texas Fork Forums, but overall, it's true.
And this.

I've got a 17' Triton with a 115 Evinrude that my dad bought new and owned for 12 years and I've owned it for the last 5. No intent to upgrade anytime soon and the boat has been great for us. I fish for fun at Fork, Tawakoni and Hubbard and don't do tournaments or bad weather. So the low maintenance costs, good fuel mileage, easy towability, etc. etc. are very nice and important features.

For instance, when you need trailer tires, you only have to buy 2 instead of 4. When you need a carb job, I only have to pay for 4 instead of 6, and the kits are cheaper. Insurance is cheaper. Gas mileage is better and it uses less 2-stroke oil. If the lower unit went out, it would be half the price of a 225 motor to replace. Everything about a smaller boat is cheaper. For someone like me, a 17' boat is perfect.
