Well Andy_Joe, have the images always been dark ever since the install or did they just turn dark recently? If it's always been dark then I'd think maybe it's not low enough. If it's below the jackplate and dark then you are probably loosing the right side crystals. Try a soft reset, make sure it's below the jackplate and if it's still dark on that side I'd assume it's going out.

There is a flip right & left option, I can't tell you exactly where it is, it's been awhile since I had to change mine. Should be in the structure scan menu though. Do a google search on soft rest, don't do the hard because you will loose your wypts. It's something with the power button and another maybe pages but I won't swear to it, been along time since I've had to do one of those too. I'm not much help for you, lol

SPOTLIGHT update.

I now have several hours under my belt with the 'spotlight' transducer and I have to report that I don't care much for it.
The problem is that you have to continually rotate your trolling motor to get any display. I didn't realize this when I bought it and it is a deal killer for me.
I was hoping that with experience, it would be a great addition to my electronics. So far, that is not the case.
Here is an example of what I'm talking about:
The way I fish for crappie is primarily done by locating brushpiles, marking them with a waypoint, throwing out a marker buoy and jigging vertically while holding the boat in position with my trolling motor.
If I'm approaching one of my waypoints with the 9Touch, I have a three panel display up with the chart (showing the waypoint), down imaging and spotlight.
As I approach the waypoint I'm trying to see it before I arrive at it with spotlight but, in doing so, I have to continurally rotate the tm to get the spotlight display. Well, even if I take my foot off the motor control button and then rotate, slowly, the tm, I have a real difficult time getting into position.
When you factor in current, wind, waves, etc, these things are just too distracting to keep any concentration on actually fishing.
IF spotlight would give me a display without turning the tm constantly, my disappointment would go away! I am able to get some really great screen shots with spotlight and MAYBE I'll grow to be able to use it successfully.
Questions?

Snowyriver, you should be able to transfer your waypoints and trails to your new Elite 7. When I bought mine it was a simple process and then when I moved up to the Touch it was simple as well.

LCX-38chd & Navionics Hotmaps premium.

I am having issues with using the Navionics Hotmaps premium on my LCX38.
I have updated the Software version from Lowrance web site.
The graph sees the card but it shows (no format).
It also weird's out with the card in , it gives a high pitch beep and locks up.

I know its a older graph, just wondering if any one ran across this same issue .

Over the weekend, my new 9Touch with spotlight began acting up.
The down imageing and/or the spotlight panels would stop....just quit moving across the screen....GPS and 2D were still working fine. And then they would start moving again without me doing anything. It repeated this off and on all day. Maybe a few seconds and maybe a minute or two.
Second problem, when moving the trolling motor the 'v' doesn't move. I checked the roller under the foot control and it seems to be in position and if I lift the roller with my finger it moves the 'v' on the screen. I'm thinking it has to be
a problem with the install of the roller ball and feel sure I can fix it.
Also wonder if somehow these two issues could be related? I don't see how as the DI has nothing to do with spotlight except they share the same transducer housing.

Was wondering if any of you gurus have heard of this or is it unique to me? I do plan to call the factory later this morning.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okie, my guess was the nmea foot pedal sensor too. Have you jumped up to the 3.0 update yet? Not sure the update is the problem but you never know. You have surpassed the horizons for any information I might be able to help with. I will not be joining into the spotlight club due to having a non compatable trolling motor. Let us know what Lowrance says to do, my guess is they'll say to soft reset and try it again.

Scout, I just this morning learned there is a sw update. I'll try that first and then call the factory if it doesn't help.

How do I get my chart to move with my position? Right now the arrow moves by itself and comes off the chart when I troll then I have a hard time finding where I'm at again. This is on a Elite 5 model.

How come I keep catching small fish when every product I buy is supposed to catch more and bigger fish?

Newbie, I haven't used the elite series but it might be like the HDS series. Try pushing the exit button 1 time when that happens, it should take you back to your navigate screen instead of the crosshairs screen that you are referring to.

I don't have an exit button but I think I can figure out how to get rid if cursor if that's what does it.

Can you guys help me discern these images on my Elite 5? This is my first time ever with a fish finder and my only knowledge about them is from reading these threads and watching Youtube vids. Also the color pallette seems unatural to me on Lowrance. Yellow is hard return red is soft. It seems more natural the other way around. Also feel free to give any advice on settings, etc...

#1. This one is obvious even to me that there are 4 fish (3 big ones???) but why is one mostly green and the other yellow and red? Also is it normal to get surface clutter all the way down to 40 ft?

#2. The only thing I think I'm sure of here is that big arch right to the left of the green blob is a big fish??? What does all the other stuff mean? Clutter? Bait fish everywhere? What does the green mean?

#3. Are those trees? Even though not connected to the bottom? What does the brown bottom with a lot of green on top mean? Hard bottom with lots of vegetation?
