High Trails in Garland Texas is going out of business and liquidating all of our kayaks, with quite a few fishing kayaks like the Native Ultimate 12 for $699. Here is the e-mail Bob sent out to everyone on our email list:

Over the past fifty years, my wife Mary, my son Bobby, our staff and I have developed wonderful relationships with the loyal supporters of High Trails. We have found so much joy in helping customers choose the perfect canoes, kayaks and paddle gear for their outings.

However, because of website and big box competition along with a struggling economy, we have made the very difficult decision to close our store. Many of you have shopped with us since those early days in Richardson and we thank you for your loyalty. This is a sad time for our family business, but we must move on.

Since you are on our e-mail list, you are the FIRST to be notified of our liquidation sale prior to it being advertised to the public. Therefore, you will have FIRST CHOICE of EVERYTHING in the showroom and warehouse AT OUR LOWEST PRICES EVER OFFERED! Dramatic price cuts on all of our kayaks, canoes, paddles, life jackets and all other accessories. All of our used canoe and kayaks will be on sale as well. Thanks for the kind words Mike. Where my father has retired to his ranch in east Texas, I will still have a presence in the paddling community.

Forgot to mention, we are also liquidating all of our used and rental canoes and kayaks as well.

Yesterday all of the rental canoes were sold. We have around 40 or 50 used kayaks so we are working on a list and will be up this next week.

SOrry to hear about this - always a loss to a community to lose it's family owned businesses and I hope things work out best for you and family. Are you still doing only Sat/Sun sales?

Sorry about the huge delay in responding, been taking care of my twin 10 month olds during the week and have not had the chance to write on here. There are no peddle boats left soje, sorry. They went the first couple weeks of our sale. We do still have one ultimate 12 for $699 and some of the 14.5 at $785

And Josh, you probably have already bought a skirt, but yes I think we do have them in stock.
