The basic concept will be as follows:
• There will be six, or more, 10-man Teams and 1 or 2 “Alternates”
• Within each 10-man Team will be five 2-man “Squads”
• These 2-man squads will have a number assigned to them on the league roster.
The squads will be paired by the league before the start of the series for the whole season. The season shall run for 6 months; May, June, July, August, September, and October, with the Classic to be held in November.
The paired squads will then select the lake the month Prior to the month of the match. This will be posted on the website. Disputes on lake selection will be resolved before the start of the match month. Each of the paired squads will have 28 days to complete their match each month, NO MATCHES WILL BE ALLOWED TO BE COMPLETED IN THE NEXT MONTH (It is anticipated that there will be plenty of time for coordination or substitutes). The time and duration of the match is to be a minimum of four hours. ***This is very important; please try to come to an agreement on when and where to fish without having to resort to the captains intervening. BE CREATIVE! Try to tie the match in with some other fishing activity like pre-fishing, fun fishing, club tournaments or something like that. The rules are for a minimum of four (4) hours. That can be done in one evening on one of the local lakes!***
The squads must agree upon a set of digital scales between the four contestants to use at weigh-in and weigh-in bag to be used before the start of the event.
There will be a five fish limit per boat, and subject to the state imposed limits for the chosen body of water.
Each participant is responsible for his/her compliance with all state and federal laws both in person and equipment at all time. The league or teams do not bear any responsibility or liability for the unsafe operation or illegal activity by the participant. (This must be understood and agreed by all participants before the start of competition).
In the event of a tie or no fish for a given event in the allotted time, the two squads may, of their own choosing, toss a coin, go back out for a limited time frame, or agree to a “draw”.
The final result will be scored as follows:
Win = 3 points
Loss = 1 point
Draw = 2 points
No Show = 0 points
The squads will have 24 hours to report the results to the team captain or alternate. The results will then be forwarded to a scorekeeper. These results will be updated on the website regularly.
At the end of regular match play all of the squad points will be totaled for each Team. The two teams with the highest total squad points will advance to the Classic.
In the event of a tie in the point totals for second place, the two tied teams will select the highest scoring squads to stage a tiebreaker within two weeks following the completion of regular play. The winning squad’s team will advance.
The six team captains will submit a requested lake 2 weeks prior to the scheduled Classic. (removed the date of the Classic)
The top two 10-man teams will then fish an 8 hour event on the selected lake. The winning team will then be awarded 2/3 of the pot collected at the beginning of the competition and the losing team will collect 1/3 of the pot. (The money collected will be held in a savings account at Compass Bank in Arlington, TX. Any interest accrued will be used to reserve the account for the next series.
