If the months were dec/jan would say O

Feb/march/April push

May thru nov falcon

Fished the big O several times over the past 10 years or so. It's a great experience and certainly a must trip for bass enthusiasts.

+1
Most of the guides on Okeechobee move to lakes in the north for the summer.

I would rather fish Falcon 4 days for an 8 pounder, than catch an 8 pounder a day with shiners at big O. I enjoyed the FLW tourney there, pretty lake, but it isn't all that. Not so great numbers, no so great size, and most guide fishing is shiners. We were there just leading edge of spawn, 356 great anglers and look at the results. I caught a 4 pounder and veteran pro was impressed as that was the biggest fish he had seen caught including 3 full days of practice.

The guides at O will use artificial if you tell them ahead of time that's the way you want to fish. Falcon definitely gives you a better chance at a 10+ and a better average as well. I just wish Zapata had a place like The Tiki Bar.

I can't speak for Falcon right now, but I live about 2hrs north of The Big O. The fishing down there is good, during the summer there's lots of numbers but the quality will be hard to come by. If you're taking your wife and she doesn't want to fish the whole time there isn't much for her to do around the lake but the beach isn't that far and there's a ton for her to do along the coast. Good luch with your decision.....
