Who remembers the three Trilenes? I was a huge fan of TS. It was sort of a bright green that was had low observability against the sky, and had fair to great low observability underwater, but was quite visible to the angler. TFP

I'd like to see a line that alternates between green and clear every foot of line.

I'd like to see a line that alternates between green and clear every foot of line. I've never seen a line that does that exactly, but there, at least use to be, a mono that had color segments. If I recall there were something like four different colors. I should think that a line that used smoke, clear, and green segments would be very interesting too. TFP

I prefer line easy to see but I rarely use it because if I can see it the fish can too. Or least that's my thought process...

As of 19:45 Tues. the 8th of April:
Over half the vote is for a qualified yes,
about 1/5 is an unqualified yes, and
about 1/5 is an unqualified, or nearly unqualified no.
This is about what I would have expected.
Most experienced anglers have caught fish when they were all but jumping into the boat, or onto the shore, but OTOH they have seen times when you couldn't buy a bite with anything but small diameter clear line.
The best example of this in my personal experience was a fishing trip some years back when I went fishing with Mack Prather on Lake Gilmer. I was fishing the exact same soft plastic lure, hook, and weight as Mack but could NOT get a bite. Mack was doing a nice job of catching fish. The one difference was that I was using YELLOW Power-Pro, and Mack was fishing Seagar Carbon Pro. I ended up changing out reels going to one that was spooled with P-Line Fluoroclear. I tied on the same weight, hook, lure, etc. and started catching fish almost immediately.

Sometimes the fish can be line shy. I've fished in some creeks using 8lb test clear line and have seen bluegill follow it around, so I know they can see it under the right conditions. I try to use the lightest lb test I think I can get away with in clear. But I also use alot of trilene transoptic, cx premium green, or yellow braid with a leader if I need to see it.

The only time line color has made a noticeable difference was catching deep smallmouth while creeping a jig along the bottom. Painfully slow fishing and a waste of time if you weren't using flouro. up until then I never cared about line color but it made me a believer. As for moving/reaction baits I think color does not matter at all no matter the lake. It's going by them to fast and the umbrella rig proves that in my book. 5 heavy gauge wires sticks out more than any line color.

In shallow water, floro is not clear...... interesting graphic. the red line makes a lot more sense to me now because black, in deeper water is difficult to see. But I think across the board, water clarity/light penetration play a huge roll in how visible line is.
