Mason's Bass-On is NOT a big name in fishing line, but I've found it to be a very good line myself.
I've not used anything other than the Brown-Smoke color but I like the fact that it has low observability in water that's sightly stained, to very muddy, AND that it also has low observability against the sky (even clear blue skies).
The other thing about Bass-On is that it is VERY limp. I don't think I've ever fished with a line that is limper than Bass-On. I really like it on spinning gear. If I had to recommend a line for beginners trying to learn how to cast baitcasting gear I would recommend Bass-On for it's limpness, and forgiving nature when it comes to backlashing. Also, in bulk spools (the so called quarter-pound spools) it's quit inexpensive.
Understand that Bass-On is not some 'advanced' fishing line, but is a traditional nylon monofilament.
In my experience it has been excellent for topwaters, and crankbaits.
Your mileage may vary, which is why I started this thread.

+1 I have had to order it on Ebay, 1/4 spools. I use 17 and 20#, mainly just for spinnerbaits, shallow or medium crankbaits and sometimes topwaters. I do not use it for plastics, etc. Can you get it from anywhere besides Ebay?

I used to use only this and have been lured away by fluoro. Dollar for dollar the strongest and most abrasion resistant line I have ever used. Used to buy it at Barlow's.

I've used it for spinning rods. It's got a real thin diameter. Strong line for sure
I can backlash toilet paper.

Mason's Bass-On website. You can order direct from Mason's at their website as linked to above. Both the Brown-Smoke, and the Clear are listed. There are various sizes including commercial 1 pound bulk spools, and 1/4th pound spools. With the commercial 1 pound spools you get into the 1 cent or less per yard range. TFP

I'm also very fond of P-Line CX Premium. I always get the CX in the fluorescent blue. Back when Mack's Tackle in Lindale was open he carried the 1/4 lb. spools of Bass-On for sale. I much prefer 1/4 lbs. spools to smaller spools. You get far less waste with the 1/4 lbs. spools. TFP

Would the person that answered the second poll yes to having used Bass-On in the green color please post where they got the green Bass-On that they've used? Thanks, TFP

I've used it for YEARS and it's great (tea colored) for lakes in East Texas like Pines, Palestine, Rayburn, T-bend and so forth. I usually buy it at Barlows but I've gotten a couple of bad spools (old line sitting in the light forever..) lately and I've gotten away from it. I would recommend to anyone but order it direct from Mason.
