Purchased a used 2012 sho took it out for the 3 rd trip this weekend and boat acts like its not getting enough fuel. Acts like its bogging down when trying to plane out and when it does plane out only running 5300 rpm with top speed of 58mph.. First trip out ran 5800 rpm and top speed was 68.7. Just had fuel/water seperator and another fuel filter replaced also had compression checked and it was good...any suggestions just trying to make sure its not something simple before i travel 300 miles to closet yamaha dealer. Thanks

Where are you? Most of us will not answer any questions with out the poster showing their location.

What prop are you using? Might be too big of a prop, especially if you ran it the first time in the cold at a lower elevation. Im turning a 24 on my 250 SHO here in the panhandle, however your hull might play a role in that too. Just a thought that came to mind.

Yep it is the elevation. You will have to drop to a 23 or 24 pitch prop for Ute. Have seen some boats barely able to get on plane their.

Ok bought a 23 pitch instead of the 25 and it did not improve boats performannce..never got over 5500 rpm with top speed being 63.1. When u try to take off boats acte like bogs for around 20 seconds then it will start to plane out

Your original post says 58mph at Ute with the 25pitch. Having lots of running issues coming back to our fuel right now. Might try a 21pitch. Have the throttle checked to be shure its going full throttle. You gained 200rpm`s and 5mph going to the 23. You are not going to run the Oklahoma #`s at Ute. Put some Sea Foam in it.

That motor should have a Baro sensor on it. Sounds like it may be acting up on you. Look in the manual and see if there are any high altitude instructions in it. What is probably happening is you are running real rich. Talk to a tech in your area that is familiar with high altitude tuning on your brand outboard.

Have only fished out of one FX 21 w/250SHO it was a 2012 and it would only run 68mph on a light chop, loaded at Falcon
