So lake worth was good yesterday went on the upper end today and a little slow. Some nice crappie and whites yesterday. One white on a big ol' bass spinner which was fun. Anyone else struggling to catch largemouths lately. I have been targeting them a lot but only getting a few here or there. Most of my fish were caught very shallow ...but lake worth is shallow... grin one guy did yell at me for going in a slip to jig. Being the nice guy I am I didn't say anything....but to my knowledge as long as I am on the water and not tied off I am not trespassing. Not worth arguing over though. Also caught a very nice channel cat....for being a "trash lake" that guy was beautiful. also wondering about the stumpy areas towards the back end. They look really nice and some good places to get lost but man the 2' of water really kinda dissapointed me a little. I know they are shallow but.....Has anyone had any luck back up in those areas.

So pops and I are have a spot reserved at purtis creek. This was the only place we could find to rent a yak for him. I know nothing about this place so should be an adventure. Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated. He doesn't fish much but likes to get out. I am hoping to get on some crappie and bass. We are open to other camping spots if anyone has suggestions. This was just the only one that looked promising and somewhat easier to tackle than a big lake.

pm's welcome

have a great day thumb

When you see the pic of the bass that Deric (Pelican) caught at Purtis today you'll be glad you're going there. I have had really good luck in two places on Purtis. The first is the big island. It's usually good for a few easy bass early in the morning. The 2nd place is the standing timber around the first cove strait over from the ramp. I usually drop shot that timber and have done well in the past. There is a "spot on a spot" there and if you can find it usually you can do well. Good luck, that's a great lake to be on in the kayak even when the bite is slow.

Mineral wells state park has a awesome kayak lake. No boat traffic right now since the ramp is closed. They also have some nice camp grounds as well as kayak rentals.
