Okay I need your help.I have been bass fishing now for about 6 years consistently. And I seem to struggle the most in March. Recently I pre fishef Lake Ray Roberts for the Bud Light series. During the 4 pre fish trips I did poorly every time. I have fished main lake points, shallow rocky Bluffs, trees with every kind of bait imaginable. What do you do in March to catch fish? I am open to all advice.

Until they move up on the hard wood points it is very tough. Spent lots of days pitching in the middle of 12 ft. trees trying to pick off a couple of suspended bass waiting to move up. Lots of idling and side scanning those trees just to see if I want to fish them. Out and around every point until you find a few suspended fish and then getting a bit is a different story.
Someone always finds that one or two little points with hard woods that a few big fish have moved up on. Two points out of 20 or 30 makes it tough and that seems to continue until the spawn is over.
No lake ever gets good in March every where you go. It happens one day at a time. Fish a point today and nothing. Get a couple of warmer nights and good calm sunny days and then they are there.
Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success. Been fishing RR since it opened. I learned that you go way out to East Texas- Palestine, Athens, Fork and fish those lakes thru the spawn, then go to RR and it's just right.

here today, gone tomorrow... sums up spring fishing. I hate spring fishing. It's the worst time of the year for me to be consistent.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

Just find a good pre/post spawn "highway" it will have fish around it from the first of the spawn until they are done!
Like others I am not a fan of Spring fishing, unless it's sight fishing.
In tournaments it seems the guys who can make themselves throw at the bank blindly all day can always sneak up on ya and whoop ya!
Come on May!

I usually try to cover lots of water on ray Roberts this time of year until I find some fish. Last year I was fishing the same cove as 10 other boats. I got almost to the back and found a small little ditch maybe 40 yards long and 40ft wide. I couldn't really get my boat up in there. So I chunked a spinner bait as far as I could caught a 5lber, next cast a 4, followed by 20 plus smaller keepers. I could throw just about anything I had tied on and catch a fish. Now this by no means a winning tournament sack on ray bob. It was just a good time catching numbers with a little size. I think I weighed like 16-17 lbs and all came from that little ditch. I struggle out there but when you find one out there they seam to be stacked up. Keep you head up ray Roberts will humble the best fisherman.

They never hold on a pattern for more than a couple of days, if not a couple of hours. If oyu don't get a bite in 20 minutes, move. Move a lot until you find fish, then slow WAY DOWN...

Even though it is the one of the best times of the year to catch a Lunker due to so many big females coming into spawn. It can be one of the most frustrating times of the year. Patterns are not real consistent due to the weather changes and the fishing moving from spawning areas to holding areas and back again as the weather continues to change daily.
