About to buy a new gps unit. Torn between hbird and lowrance. I like the idea of the lakemaster mapping. Has anyone used them? Feedback?

Love mine. The water level offset, shallow water highlight, depth highlight are all super features. If you go with the Humminbird, Lakemaster is the only way to go.

I agree with texasbass1 on the lakemaster chip. Well worth the money and only way to go for sure. Good luck.

I just started using the Lakemaster chip to work with ILink. Shallow water highlights and lake level offset are great features.

Doug, thanks for those images. Do the Lakemaster maps accurately depict creek channels, submerged tank dams, old road beds/bridges etc?

Red Lines are Road Bed

Here is a shot from Falcon of Old Zapata

Pink Lines are Creek Channels ( This one is from Lake Fork)

They are starting to label more and more or adding ICONs of Points of Interest to the map when they can verify the data is there.

One neat feature is ability to turn off the contours so you see the roads, points of interest and creek channels easier.

Doug, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the information you have provided us. I'm getting the Humminbird 597 ci, and I am absolutely getting the Lakemaster chip, due in large part to the research you have done. Thank you very much brotha!

I had Navionics in my HB and when I got my I-Pilot Link, I got the Lakemaster chip. It has a lot of great features but I seem to find more times that the actual data is wrong. I was on Fork a few weeks ago and it showed a 10 foot hump on the map but I never could find more than a foot or two difference in the bottom on the sonar. Maybe they all have the same errors but I have seemed to notice more lately.

Any one else see this difference?

Stan

The version 1 Lakemaster card is MidSouth States that is IPilot Link compatible. The card should also say IPilot Link compatible on the card and the box. If you have the version 1 TX/Ok card that one isn't Ipilot Link compatible
