This is off topic but where are the best areas on fork for sandies? I want to go down there tomorrow and have heard there are some good ones in the lake. I would rather go to fork because I know how to run the lake, never been on any of the well known sandies lake so I don't feel comfortable on them. Thank you in advance.

I would think they would be up the rivers spawning still with these temps.

Hope you know the new Sandbass law that went into effect Jan.1 on Fork
If You catch one, you have to catch 5,000 and can not release any.

If you can find a lure that imitates a Lone Star Sharelunker Fingerling that was recently stocked, you can catch all you want. smile

I wouldn't tell anyone to break the law fish

The laws for sandbass on Fork are the same as any other Texas lake.
If you see someone killing a fish for no reason, you might want to get their boat number..and give it to the TPW warden. flag

I will gladly take my limit and no more. I just want to get on some good fishing. The lakes up here are dead right now. Gonna take my daughter her friend and my wife. Just want to put them on some fish.

So no one is led a stray by misinformed persons:

Fishing Regulations for Lake Fork

To combat the spread of invasive zebra mussels, boaters and anglers in some North Texas and Central Texas counties are required to drain water from boats and onboard receptacles when leaving or approaching a public water body. Check to see if your county is on the list.

Black bass
For largemouth bass, length limit is a 16-24 slot. Bass 16 inches and less or 24 inches or greater in length may be retained. Only one bass 24 inches or greater may be retained each day. For smallmouth bass (if present), minimum length = 14 inches. No minimum length on spotted and Guadalupe bass (if present.) Daily bag limit for all four species = 5 bass in combination.

White, striped and yellow bass
For striped and hybrid striped bass, minimum length limit = 18 inches and daily bag limit = 5 in any combination. For white bass, minimum length = 10 inches and daily bag is 25. There are no bag or size limits for yellow bass.

Carp
There is no minimum length limit or daily bag limit for common carp.

Catfish
For channel and blue catfish, their hybrids and subspecies, minimum length limit = 12 inches and daily bag limit = 25 in any combination. For flathead catfish, minimum length = 18 inches and daily bag limit = 5.

Crappie
For black and white crappie caught from DEC. 1 through the last day of FEB., there is no minimum length limit and all crappie caught must be retained. From March through November, minimum length is 10 inches. Year-round daily bag limit is 25 crappie in any combination.

Gar
For alligator gar, daily bag limit is 1 fish of any size. No bag limits on other species of gar.

Sunfish
There is no minimum length or daily bag limit on bluegill, redear, warmouth or other species of sunfish.

Trout
For rainbow and brown trout, their hybrids and subspecies, there is no minimum length and daily bag limit = 5 trout in any combination.

Yeah bassanator, sure glad you posted that. I was almost ready to go get a heavy duty fillet knife to clean my 5000 sandbass.
