I have a Humminbird on the front deck that will cut off for no reason while I am on the trolling motor. It has a fuse wired in and it never goes bad. It's like some kind if interference causes it to go lose power or the screen goes fuzzy. Probably happens 10 or so times during a day of fishing. Any ideas on a way to fix the problem?

mine would scramble when I used the trolling motor. Dont know if yours is the same , but I had to mount the transducer instead of using the one built in the trolling motor.

I used to have a 788c with the HB quick connect mount and it would lose power and turn itself off a lot. That mounting bracket sucks!

Check your voltage. It may be too low to keep it on. Make sure you have good connections at all points from the battery all the way to the unit.

90% of the shut down problems are caused by low voltage to the unit. When I hit this problem first thing is to run the power wires all of the way to the cranking battery w/ a new in-line fuse. Throw the glass type away.

Check your inline fuse holder. Mine was doing same thing and the fuse holder was loose. I took it apart put fuse back in and tightened it. Wrapped electrical tape around fuse holder to hold tight. Solved the problem.

My 898 would do this and one of my pins in the connector was slightly bent and was not making a good connection. Once I straightened that pin I didn't have another issue.

yes. thats a power/ground issue. look where they connect to the unit and see if there's any green pookie in the connectors.

I cleaned all the connections and thought I was set. Now I realize the real problem. Every time the timer kicks the aerator on it causes the front depth finder to go off. I turn it back in an it works until the timer kicks the aerator on again. I havnt had a chance to examine the way they are wired. What should I look for.

I had same problem. Sent mine to Humminbird 2 times they found nothing wrong. Finally corrected it by going in and rewiring and putting new fuse link and connectors have not had any more problems.
Good Luck!!

That's definitely a low voltage issue. Check to see if your Humminbird is connected to the same battery as your aerator. If so, then two options:
1) if your battery is old, replace it. 2) wire your Humminbird to another battery where it will get a constant voltage without any voltage drops when something comes on.

Had that happen to me. I soldered all connections. Haven't had a problem since.
