About 5 other men and myself will be heading to Cotter the 2nd week of March. It is my understanding that when they are releasing water, the wade fishing is very limited. We have guides lined up for the first day, but how do we fish on our own.

I have kayaks and a single man pontoon, my real question is, is there any point in taking the watercraft? Are there any feeder creeks close by that are wadeable?

The last time I fished White River I carried the kayaks, and was glad I did. My thought is it's better to have them with you and not use them, than to not have them and wish you did.

Any input from those who are familiar with area would greatly appreciated.

OSHA tries to make the jobsite "idiot proof" then the employers go and hire the cheapest idiots they can find to prove OSHA wrong.

I would say definitely take the watercraft. It has been two years since I was in Cotter, but I put in at Wildcat Shoals. Took out at Cotter, as that's where I was staying. Paid a guy $20 to move my Jeep.

He worked out of The Ozark Angler, I believe. You may not need shuttle service, but it's available if you do. The area around Cotter Bridge is loaded with fish, too. At least it was when I was there. You could put in at the ramp right there at Cotter Bridge & fish all day long.

Water was gin-clear. You'll want to use long leaders & fluorocarbon tippet.

MAN! I need to take a trip back there SOON!!

You are also not too far from Crooked Creek. It's a Blue Ribbon smallmouth fishery that you can yak or wade.
