Same for me, been to many years. I'm having a hard time trying to remember where much less what I caught it on. I am sure the first I caught was on live bait, probably my first on a lure was a Black and yellow H&H or a orange lazy Ike. Probably caught it in Blue Rivers Southern Oklahoma on Uncle's Ranch or my other Aunt and Uncles Ranch in Bing Oklahoma that had some really good stock tanks or maybe Texhoma. Been to many years, but I had good places to fish when I was a kid.

Black and Gold Devils Horse, looking at the fish right now! Dad had it mounted and given to me as a gift that year for Christmas. I have the picture of me getting the gift right under the mount. Remember it like it was yesterday.

I was about 9 and was fishing the Fox Chain of Lakes in Illinois. I just bought a Jitterbug and threw it out from the shore at the State Park there. It was the middle of the day and I did not know you should not throw a top water in the middle of the day. Thankfully for me about a 2 pound bass did not know that either and smashed my lure. I was hooked for life from then on. Top Water is still my favorite way to catch a bass.

Too bad for the bass but I had to show him to my dad and brother. So I went eunning up to our campsite with the fish. That was way before (almost 40 years ago) catch and release was the name of the game.
