I ordered a new portable fish finder yesterday. It has active sonar and fish finding capabilities. I spent a little over $100 on it. Since it's wireless, I'm under the opinion that it will be beneficial to use. The one I ordered is: http://www.amazon.com/Vexilar-SP100-T-Po...ess+fish+finderI feel for the money, this was the best bang for the buck. I'll give a review after I use it a few times, once it comes in that is. I'm interested to see if anybody uses anything like this and how well it helps them catch fish?

I can't comment on a protable from the bank fish finder but the Humminbird 570DI I use on my kayak has absolutely helped me locate and catch more fish than I woul dhave without it. It certainly can't hurt thats for sure!

I look forward to the review.
I bought the Humminbird RF35 a few years ago, and its probably one of the worst fishing purchases I've made.

I almost bought the Humminbird RF35, but they were more expensive and didn't give the same amount of detail that this one does. I'll let you know as soon as I get it wet.

I'm going to start off by apologizing for the size of the images. I didn't want to take the time to cut them down to smaller images (Lazy). I just got this in yesterday. I have it all setup and ready for use. I'm hoping that I'll get the chance to use it tomorrow or sunday. I wanted to at least show you what it all comes with and maybe answer any questions that you may have about the product. Front of box Side showing the requirements to run the T-Pod and contents Back of Box Other side of box After opening the box, before the sealed package. Extra gift - The arm band. Didn't know it came with one. Full contents

I should be able to test it this weekend. I'll take some pictures of it in the water and screen shots of the app on the phone.

Saw them at Cabela's and downloaded the free app on my phone. Demo looks good but wondering how well it actually works via wifi and how close to real time it is. Don't think I would use it on my boat but may be perfect for fishing around the slips and barge.

Looks like fun. Careful where you cast the transducer, might want to get a lure retriever just in case.

I too would be very interested in how it works out. I had a little Smart Cast deal. It was cool and all, but it broke soon after I got it. The resolution was not that great, but it did the main function that I wanted it too...which is to tell me the depth!
This one looks far superior than the one I had (though the transducer is much bigger). I also like the aspect of using my phone, which I usually have with me at all times anyway. I mainly fish from the bank and from my yak. These little depth finders are perfect for my fishing needs (even in the yak, this is all you would need. Mounting a full blown depth finder, transducer, battery and such seems a bit too much to me for yak fishing).

I didn't have the chance to test it this past week end. Had daddy stuff to do. the next chance that I'm going to have it this weekend due to my work schedule this week. I've decided that I'm not going to run my fishing line to it. I'm going to tie a line(rope) and toss it in the area that I want it in that way I don't have to worry about it being caught or too much in the way. I'm ready to test this bad boy out. I'm eager to get back out there and test it. I want to be able to fish while testing it so I can say that it was able to locate the fish, but I may have to do this in stages. I'll keep you posted for sure.
