I have an older boat which has many chips and gouges in the hull area, but doesn't affect the performance of the boat. I try not to let it bother me, but it is a little sightly. To repair it correctly, you have to sand the area down, fill in the chip or gouge with a bondo product, smooth it out, let it dry, then sand it down where its smooth with the hull or surface. Then you have to re-fiberglass a patch over the repaired surface area. Unless you know how to fiberglass, I suggest you get someone that knows what there doing. After fiberglass patch is dried, then you sand surface smooth again, and re-paint according to your color. Lots of work. Wish you Luck.

On my glass boat I used Marine-Tex to fill in some gouges. I worked pretty well. I just had to make sure it was clean, and dry when I started.

It really helps if you can get to the back of the gouge. Fiberglass damage, especially on "chopper gun" hulls, can spread like a crack in a windshield. A cheap fiberglass repair kit is easy enough to use. Just follow the directions. There are some pretty good youtube videos that may help as well.
