Since Belinda (aka: Mrs tboxfish) started making baits & I've been helping her develop colors (with alot of ya'lls help), I've been pondering over if she should use scents. When the bite is really tough or I've raked the aggressive fish off a brush pile, I'll be one of the 1st to stick a nibble on my jig & I am convinced it helps the relutant fish to go ahead & bite.
So I thought I take a cenus.
Would you rather have a bait that is pre-scent, add your own scent or not have scent at all?
If you would rather your baits be scented, would you prefer shad, crawfish, garlic or anise (or maybe a combination)?
It costs you nothing to give your thoughts & everybody's input is appreciated & will be considered.
I've looked & unless I'm missing something, this forum format does not give a poll option.

I'm like you,my jig doesn't get in the water without a nibble on it. I know shrimp is suppose to be the best scent for crappie, but I've always used garlic. I've recently started using the garlic scent marker on my line along with still putting a nibble on.

I am with the majority = Garlic....
I used to fish with Anise (Bang), but I think Garlic out fishes it, from my experience.

I don't use scents other than a crappie nibble.

I prefer pre-scented with Shad or garlic

I would prefer garlic as well. I make my own fish food for my aquarium fish, and you put a little garlic in it, and the fish go crazy for it. These are 4-6" juvi South American cichlids, so I am sure crappie would too.

I do great on nibbles and shad scents. I found that I can mark a brush pile and put a jig with noting on it and sometimes come up empty, but as soon as I put scent or a nibble on it I hit one on the same pile.

Purchased some Garlic scent today & she is going to get some shad ordered - let the tested commence! I'm due a day or at least a half day on the water. Rain is forecasted for Sat afternoon thru Sunday, might wait till Monday & the again, I might just dawn the slicker & see what happens!!! fish clap

I don't use any kind of scent, so my perference is 'nothing'. Let the guys add their own scent if they want it, as you'll never be able to satisfy everyone.
