Considering the 78 percent retiree responses, we should have some mid-week social tournaments. Just get together and have fun away from the normal weekend crowds.
Retired and loving it!

I talked to Lee today about us old forts getting together and fish. I live in Waco but could come up to metro area lakes. I sure most of us have a budget so we could team up to save a little $. I sure so guys in the Belton Temple area would be interested.

Been retired for 5 1/2 years and a Bass fisherman for over 50 yrs. Fished tourneys for most of those years , team tourneys the last few years until my knee replacement last year. Still doing a couple days, in the AM, a week until it gets too hot. Waiting for the fall to hit and the rain to fill up some of these lakes.

Been retired since Jan 13, young guys (some on the tournament trail...really good fishermen) at work talked me into going fishing one afternoon. I realized how much I missed it, fished with them for a couple of months and bought a used Skeeter ZX225. There was four days left on the motor warranty when it blew up. Boat dealer replaced the power head, all good. Had the trolling motor rebuilt, now all good. Updated the electronics, now all good. Fished in the Skeeter owners tournament on Fork, had a great time. Fishing in the wounded warrior tournament (Brent Holman) on Possum Kingdom and really looking forward to it. I am learning how to fish again, moving from a Texas rig - purple worm, white spinner bait, and a top water (Hellraiser)from the 1970s to shaky heads, drop shots, 1 oz jigs, Ricos, C-Rigs, toads, creatures, finesse worms, wacky worms and swim jigs; not to mention braid, co-polymer, mono....and new knots.
All that said, my friend has taught me how to fish again; I have caught the biggest fish in my life(9.1#) this spring and lots of 5-7s in lake fork. It is great fun, wish I had started earlier. And thanks to all my young friends that have showed me the way, thanks for the patience.
I fish three times a week during the middle of the week, live in the mid cities, and don't go far to enjoy the great joy of fishing.

I think a "Seniors Tournament Trail" would be a hit.

Missed the 'spring season' this last year as didn't buy first bass boat until late April but, sure am looking forward to this coming fall/winter and spring seasons! Like you, just "just learning" how to fish after so many years but unlike you, arghhhhh....haven't yet caught anything larger than 2 1/2 lbs. Makes me feel better to know there are MANY others of us"retirees" fishing... Been retired since Jan 13, young guys (some on the tournament trail...really good fishermen) at work talked me into going fishing one afternoon. Been retired 5yrs 9months. Live on Lake Livingston, so fish several days a week. Till deer season when I hunt all season. Have several friends and a neighbor that are retired and can seldom get any of them to fish, so I fish by myself alot. Like most, thought I'd have plenty of company to fish with. Wish more of ya'll lived closer, we could get to gather. Best luck in ya'lls fishing. Lee I like the thread.
