So, I was thinking about maybe hitting white rock Sunday morning to avoid the power boat armada that will be on all of the major lakes cuz of the holiday. I have never been there before so, how is the fishing? Any tips would be appreciated like best place to launch, etc. Thanks

I'm sure Brett will chime in soon. I think he has them figured out on WR ;-)

Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure I will be hitting whiterock at 7AM on Sunday. It's amazing how early you can get up when you have a baby. If anyone is out that way, I will be in an olive Pescador.

There are no fish in there. As soon as you think you have it figured you will realize you don't. I would start at the south end of the lake or look for points with logs on them.

^^This^^

I've had pretty good luck in the spring and early summer there the last couple of years. Fished it twice in the heat this summer and have 1 LMB and a couple of Bluegill to show for it. But both hot weather trips have been afternoon/evening affairs, so maybe the early morning can still provide some "rod bending".

I agree with the suggestions to start on the south end.

Good Luck

OK, so I went ahead and hit White Rock today. Couldn't make it at first light because the baby didn't cooperate last night. Got there around nine and launched at the boat ramp on the southwest side. Wind was out of the south so I just drifted north and hit most of the west side of the lake. Managed to hook a couple of small largemouth. One on a lazy ike(walmart dollar bin) and the other on a rattletrap. Both firetiger in color.
Had a pretty good time even though I did not catch much. The good thing about whiterock is if the fishing is slow, you can drift and people watch.

There are quite a few real big ones living in WRL but they are pretty smart. Keep giving them a challenge!

My GF lives 2 minutes from WR so I have paddled and fished that lake quite a bit.

I lost a hog at the boat two weeks ago fishing the tip of a weed bed across from one of the northern ramps with a California 420 Baby Brush hog. I was standing when I hooked her, got her to the boat and didn't have my net. I sat down and tried lip her and she shook her head breaking me off at the knot. I still had my tungsten and bead and plastic in my hand, staring at 6 inches of floro where a monster fish was attached just seconds before. So if you find a hog with my 2/0 EWG Gamakatsu still embedded in the side of her face, I'd like my hook back please..

Hit Ray Roberts this last weekend and just caught a half dozen or so white bass. Pretty good sized ones but I am yet to hook a largemouth at Ray Roberts.
I might try White Rock again this weekend. Think I will try starting out towards the northwest side and hitting the north and east side. I'll keep an eye out for that hook.
