It might be a yound musky, hard to tell with the mud all over it. If so it is undersize and illegal to keep. If it's a pike yes they are very good to eat. Very white flakey flesh.

It's a northern pike. I have been fishing in ND for two years now and those things are in just about every body of water here. A lot of fun to catch and pretty easy fishing. They are so aggressive they will slam just about anything they see. Awesome eating if you can learn to take out the y bone. ND game and fish have vids on their website on how to clean them.

Rapala husky jerks in perch or baby bass are your best option for lures. The bigger the better. I like to run braided line or steel leaders. Their teeth are sharp.
