Amistad, it's not even close.
You haven't lived on Amistad. Incorrect, sir. While I currently don't live on Amistad, my parents do, and it is my primary fishing lake. fyi: our house is in the subdivision up on the Devil's river at Rough Canyon.

The Devils River arm is usually somewhat more murky than the main lake so if that's your reference point you would be correct.
At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

The Devils is somewhat murky at times, but it's still clearer than most other lakes. If you get to the main lake, and then travel up into the Mexican side, it's clearer than any lake in Texas.

Lake would be Toledo bend or amistad in the summer, River would be san marcos river hands down. Not to mention all the tail to see on the banks, C'mon?

Perky is a small hotwater lake on East Texas. It has loads of hydrilla which helps the clarity. It is without a doubt the clearest lake in NE TX anda strange aberration compared to all the other lakes around here!
Clearest lake I have been on is Council Bluffs in SE MO. I could see structure in 30 ft of water and my white crank bait that was running 20-25! Insanely hard to fish...

New side of Amon Carter is the clearest I've seen. You can literally see fish 10 feet deep.

Inks lake doesn't even come close to Amistad.
Once, I dropped my line clippers in California Creek. Depth chart read 35 feet. I could see them clear as day. Would have swore up and down they were less than 10 ft down if I didn't have my depth finder as the voice of reason.

Like "throwback" said, Balmorhea State Park for what your looking to do. Also the beauty of the Davis Mountains is awesome. As for lakes theres a good debate going here. Personaly I say Amistad and Alan Henry

Amistad, and there are times when you can see your bait 30ft deep. X2 Last time we were there, I was trying to get a fish to bite a shaky head in 35ft of water.( It never bit ) Clarity is unmatched!
