Since you are specifically requesting CHEAP and not sure what that equates to, I don't know how you can go wrong with something like this - what else can you buy for $300 to get a couple people on the water? About as cheap as it gets. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/produc..._R1_ScanoeCanoeGood platform for trolling motor and it's fun to say Scanoe.

This isn't the cheapest way to get two folks on the water but I believe it is one of the most comfortable. Two of my best friends just went this route, one a flyfishing guide. http://www.nucanoe.com/models/frontier/

This might not fall in your category of cheap but it's prolly one of the most stable kayak/canoes that you can get. But here's what I got here

I bought two Old Town Canoe Saranac 146. One for Texas and one for New Mexico. One was $400 Dick's and the other $450 Sportsman Warehouse the new 2013 model. I call these canoes old reliable. It is comfortable for the most part. I have caught crappie from it. Now here's the deal. I like to go out and trout fish from it but it is for the kids or grandkids when they grow up some to go out and explore and fish. For serious fishing I also have a bass buster type boat (Freedom Electric Marine) this or a personal kayak like the Pro ANgler Hobie will be better for fishing.
Try them out before buying go to a real kayak/canoe store and talk about the features. Go to the big box stores first for comparison.
Also ... I am putting canoe stabilizers on the canoes for the kids.

Keep an eye out on craigslist. I found my 17ft grumman on there for under $200.
