I don't think sand bass are a dominate species in Texoma like in some other lakes like ray Roberts and Possum Kingdom. I catch a few but find many more small stripers. Back in early May, there were schools of thousands of 6-14 inch stripers in the coves by Eisenhower. They were a real problem, as I was targeting crappie but was pulling those little devils up three at a time.

Texoma is a great fishing lake. You'll catch a lot of fish there and have fun. It just won't likely be sand bass.

John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

Texoma has tons of sand bass just not mixed with stripers! Fish west or further North. Stay around the sand and look for them hughing the bottom in shallower water as compared to stripers being suspended in deeper water. In May I can catch you all sand bass you want! Magnum size! I have not went looking for sand bass for awhile but they are there!

Yes it has a lot of sand bass. In the spring we catch them by the hundreds in the creeks after a good rain when they are heading to spawn. In the summer you can catch boat loads up around catfish bay on top water and rat-l-traps.

Like everyone else says head west and north. I use to catch the carp out of them around the islands in shallow water with ghost minnows.

Texoma is full of sand bass(White Bass)and has had a very healthy population since the 1960's and past to present that I do know of..Most people only talk about the Stripers and Smallmouth in Texoma. Before the stripers were so popular years ago..people spoke a lot about the sand bass...
Texoma has some large sand bass. They will be with the stripers suspended above them at times in deep water and most of the time in schools separate from the stripers. They are on the move constantly as the stripers in search of shad to eat.The sand bass will move all over the lake..Really hard to say they will be north or west..
They are like the stripers..who knows where they will be.One day they are here next day they are over their? find the schools and drop down smaller sand bass slabs in chartreuse/white or blue/white and you will catch the sand bass..want stripers..drop down large long slabs in banana chartreuse or live shad and catch stripers.Contact Doug Shaw Texoma lake guide..He will hook you up with limits....!

used to be loaded with sandies. They has the sandbass festival in madill every year. the people there were pissed when they started talking about putting stripers in texoma because the fear was it would do away with the sand bass. I moved from that mid eighties and always wondered how that turned out. Do they still have the sand bass festival ?

I have caught many BIG sandies in the north part of the lake. One year we were doing well between hwy 70 and the rail road. It is a BIG lake though. You can burn some gas looking.

Snowyriver- The sand bass festival is still going on each year in June. They just had it two weeks ago. If you're a people watcher, come to this event.a special breed of people come out of the wood works when the carnifest comes in town.
