man thats awesome, everyone freaked out not too long ago when they had a gator on boerne lake, people dont know they're everywhere! haha, hopefully some one released more, damn canyon lake people, maybe one will eat my ex girlfriend wake boarding... just kidding

The one gator catcher and the one Rau caught were the same Gator. He was on a night trip with Ray when they caught it. Been fishing up that river for the better part of 20 years and its a first for me.

Ok so here is the deal. I just registered for this site because of this. I caught one up river by rebeca creek also off a jug line same size. I talked to some local that works the marina after this and one of the kids ( 20 -24 years of age ) stated that a local pet shop let 6 of them go because they could take care of them.

Awesome story!
Not to derail this thread, but what IS a good lake in Texas to find gators, preferably as close to DFW as possible? I've been wanting to get some footage of some from my kayak.

Yak, Cedar Creek has gators in the river as well as Fork. I've seen a few pics of one on little Lake Athens too.
If you are ever back at College Station, make a detour to Huntsville State Park. There are a bunch, and they are large too! I was told Gibbons Creek had them in the hot water pond that is off limits to the public, but I never saw one on the main lake the hundreds of times I was there.

I'm definitely no expert, but I have a feeling that may be the farthest north a gator has been documented in the guad river basin.
