This was caught in Lake McAlester, Oklahoma.This is my cousin and was caught on the property my family owns. It was many years ago but maybe just maybe there is another somewhere close to this fish's size alive somewhere.  
A good day fishing is not losing a jig, a bad day fishing is not losing a minnow!

That big no official record of it? Why not? Would have beat the current world record by 6 oz if it was a white crappie and 1 lb 4 oz if it was a black crappie

Couldn't answer that. It was about 40+ years ago. Country folk. Supper was more important and feeding 5 kids wasn't easy. At least there was a documentation and even if it wasn't exactly certified weight, it just goes to show that crappie can get very large and there is a chance that the record can be broke.

Hmmm, I wonder what a world record crappie tastes like? Maybe with some LUCK I might one day find out....I always try to be the best crappie fisherman I can be, and strive to be better....BUT I will take a heaping helping of LUCK in my quest for the world record!...I'm just saying....Give me luck and divine intervention every time. What ever happened to the record crappie that was caught in the Westwego canal in near New Orleans in the 1960's.... it was 6.0 pounds??? It has disappeared from the books...

ady caught the 6 pound crappie out of a cannal ditch in New Orleans in the 50s or 60s on a cane pole...go figure
