I say handle it like you want. some folks are really nice, I try to help them. Others are, oh , well you know. Most people that don't know where to catch fish won"t hurt the fishing. If it is an isolated area, I don't tell them. Don't need the trash and noise. I won't lie about it, I just give them an area or something.

only tell the fishermen who know the info is theirs to use only when you are not on the spot. we know their is honor in some, you can tell them, don't inform anyone else. good luck

No need to lie. Just be honest in the fact that you choose not to share that info, which is surely your right. People should understand the reasons behind it and if not, then explain it to them nicely with assurance that it isn't personal. If you feel bad about it, just offer up some more commonly known helpful locations/tips to aid them on their journey.

When I saw people posting pics with the background blurred out, that's when I knew we need to get back to sharing information about fishing holes. Now days, I have no problem telling a fellow angler where to fish, and if needed...how to help him catch em.

Honesty among fishermen? Yes, as in all things you do in life. Guess I'm old school, but was raised, any statement a man makes to anyone in life says everything about that man, whether it's fishing or whatever. If you chose not to answer, your choice but, to be less than honest....says everything about a mans character. Myself, if and when I learn something (i.e., what's working/where/etc) heck, I don't mind sharing...in fact love it. Fishing is a sport for most of us. Fun. Why wouldn't someone want to share the enjoyment of the sport and fun. Just my 2 cents...

You can always tell someone the truth about the where and the what without revealing to much info. You just don't have to elaborate on the fine details.

Back when I was fishing bass tournaments most of the guys would come back to the dock with all their rods broken down and no lures visible on the boat.
I always just left my rods rigged up and usually didn't have time to clean up the lures used during the day.
Most of the guys thought I was messing with their minds by doing so. I caught a lot of fish on non-conventional baits. All they had to do was look at my rods to see what was working.
Semper Fi This Veteran heavily medicated for your safety. Keep me fishing and all will be well.

I always try to help anyone that asks me. I know what a pain it is to limp through a whole day of no fish. I enjoy seeing someone having success with information I've given them.

? Everybody know all us fishermen are liars. Why even bother telling the truth?
Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

X2 You don't have to necessarily tell them your honey hole, but depth, structure, how deep etc can help someone a lot. Now if a kids involved, I may share more

Whenever you' ve put in the work to find them, and the audience is just looking for your key areas. I don't know if I've ever actually told the 100% honest truth on what part of the lake I caught fish in a select few will always get the truth, the others get a slight alteration of the truth. You won't get a chance to hose the places I fish

If you have an ultimate honey hole and you want it to be someone elses ultimate honey hole-tell the truth.
