I really like mine. It's super light, however I would not overload it.

Why do you say not to overload it, I try not to overload any of my rods but sometimes it just has to be done in order to fish certain conditions, I have a Shakespeare alpha that I got a few years back that is rated up to 4oz and I toss 6oz in the surf and have never had any issues, now most of my rods are ugly stiks, but I seen the tica for so cheap compared to there other rods I just thought I would give it a chance

HIGHLY recommended. I've been surf fishing the NorthEast for years (strapers bluefish, false albacore, etc) and Tica is a fantastic stick. It blows away UglyStick in quality and function. There is a new model that is perfect for the Gulf Coast. If your throwing big baits go heavier, but there really isnt much need. I notice many in Texas over-gun their surf equipment. Go with something capable up to 3oz and you will be fine.
