How many folks on here use them?
How well do they work on deep water fish?

They do not solve the problem with the fish's swim bladder. They just make "you feel better" about your fish because they are "upright". You still need to consider to bleed the swimbladder as a solution to the problem not just a cure to the symptom.

With the fish in the upright position and their gills in the water they are able to regulate their swim bladder. Being in the upright position also reduces the stress on the fish. I have been using them for a while and they work for me. I have not lost a deep caught fish while using them. I don't catch alot of deep fish but I do manage to yank one from 25 to 35 feet ever once in a while.

I use flip clips quite often on deep caught fish that are put in my livewell, if they are floating on their side I clip em immediately.. Seen many big fish swim away in their own free will after several weigh ins. Then I am usually busy fizzing all the other fish that are brought to weigh in.. I'm no expert on delayed mortality and don't claim to be but I use them and they work

They work well on most fish. Bigger fish 8+ seem to shake them off pretty easily, so I just fizz them.

This....... We use them in our live release trailer. If the fish hasn't regulated by the time we release them I will fizz them.

We use flip clips first, and if the fish doesn't stabilize and shake the weight rather quickly- then it gets fizzed. My job as coangler is to monitor the fish's health very often. Doug does the fizzing, I haven't tried it yet.

Use flip clips first to give the fish the opportunity to stabalize itself on its own. Give it a time frame, if it does not happen then fizz.

FYI, Fish caught deep are not the only ones that have this issue. Fish that are caught shallow can have this same problem and it is typically casueed by stress/shock and not caught from the deep. I have caught several 3-5 pound fish shallow where this does occur, especially around boat docks, you typically get the fish out quickly and in the boat causing stress and/or shock. Another reason is when you are playing a fish and you tire them out (stress) and they don't have the energy in the beginning to hold themselves upright. How many times have you play a fish down and then you lip them while they lay on their side in the water. This fish will and can revive on its own, but the fish clips help speed the recovery processs by being upright and allowing their gills to be submerged completly under the water.

So, you must pay attention and check your livewells regularly to determine if a fish needs to clipped and/or fizzed.

Fish Clips will always be part of my fish care arsenal thumb

Here is a list of my fish care arsenal:

Fill Livewells away from the ramp
Run Recirculate 100%
Catch and Release Formula and/or Please release me
Fish Clips (I have two sets, bigger fish need two)
Fizzing Needle
Frozen Water Bottles (when Water temp is >80)
Marine Metal Products 2-Way Bubbles 3V Air Pump (one line to each well and I replaced the cig lighter with a toggle switch)

What happens when a fish in your livewell can't get upright, is he can't properly breathe through his gills. We have used the clips to get them upright. Even bass that weren't having air bladder problems. I picked up a 5#+ at Sandlin a couple of summers ago prefishing that I found in the boat lane. Put 3 clips on it in my livewell and treated the water and got to swim off a couple hours later.

It's been a while since I've had to do it but I have used this method more than once when helping out at the Tanks;

I've been using them for years. I use them mostly in deep water situations likeErie and deep summer fishing. Like previously stated thy give the fish a chance to correct itself.
