I've always used bait casting reels, cast with right hand, transfer rod to left hand, reel in with right hand. Never even thought about it till I bought my first spinning setup. I think I'm too uncoordinated to reel with my left hand (Oh the shame) lol I moved the handle on the reel to the right side and use it like I do my bait casters. Does anyone else do this? I know this sounds stupid, but I can hardly chew gum and walk at the same time.

I'm going to work on it Duck. My left hand works for guitar, but not spinning reel. Just need to practice I guess. Or I could flip it upside down like Hindrix did with his fender strat. lol

Rt crank on conventional and left on spinning. Been that way since I was 5 or 6. Tried left hand conventional when my left elbow went bad but felt weird. Now it's a 2 arm hook set.

I swap them to the right, it's a guy thing. Right brain diagnosis.

I grew up on the coast using spin reels and most of everyone and myselft use left hand crank...until I started fishing freshwater and seeing most anglers are backward! LOL. But I am pretty good a adaptation and now I am amperdexterous woot

My trick is just to contentrate on the rod hand as the main strong/hand. The crank hand is just dumb hand that just cranks! That works for me. And of course a little persistent and patient too. grin

Now for my son, he started out with the zebco and now he can only fish with right hand crank reels. Doh!

spinning reel I hold in my right and crank with my left. Bait casting I hold in my left and crank with my right.

To answer you question, yes, I've done that many times when guests on my boat can only crank with right hands, spinning reels. I know a guy who flips the left-hand spinning reel upside down so he can crank with his right. Its one of the oddest ways I've seen. lol

I made myself learn to reel lefty for spinning reels - it just seems more natural now.

I've never tried a left handed bait caster but I bet its more difficult. It is nice switching back and forth.

I am right handed, so it is natural to hold the rod in the right hand and crank with the left on both bait casters and spinning. It really just depends upon what you are used to.

I was fortunate to be born in the dark ages and left handed. In the old days the reels only came right handed, I learned to cast with my left hand and reel with my right. I bought a left handed spinning reel but could not use it.

It ain't easy making it look easy.

I am right handed but both my spinning rod and bait rod setups are left handed. Guess it comes from habit.

I use left handed in both spinning and bait caster. ( BTW Bass ProShop Pro Qualifier LH bait caster is the one I like the best. Have four of them now --LOL--). I Bat ,throw , shoot a gun and shoot basketball right handed. SO! I am alot more accurate casting right handed so there fore why not reel left handed. It's pretty straight forward . Just reel the reel. There can't be any special technique on how to reel --LOL-- Plus My right arm is stronger so when and if I hook a big one I can hold out longer rolfmao
