Hey fellow bank fishers,

So after catching something, where should i release it? I ask because i have heard that fish fighting a line will disturb/scare other fish out of the area. So far, I have been reeling them in and releasing in the same spot. Then i just cast in the same general area.

Do i need to walk further down, or release the fish away from me, then walk back?

This probably won't apply to the majority of reader here, but the body of water i am fishing is a small creek less than 10 ft wide. Long though.

Thanks

Fish are dumb. Release them where you caught it. Saves you more time for fishing!

Do you think ill ever "exhaust the area"? Fyi, i dont plan on keeping anything. I just thought that once fish get hooked, the fight tends to disturb the surroudning fish.

Fish have about a 15 second memory. Once the school of fish calms back down after 15/30 seconds, you should start catching them again. You can exhaust one pocket of a creek, or they get used to seeing your bait to many times. If I'm fishing in a Creek and I don't get a bite within 10 to 15 minutes I move onto the next deep pocket. You can release the fish right back Where you caught it no reason to walk up or down stream to release it, just gently put it in the water and it will swim away.
