I have both and don't mind either. However, I do not care much for the foam handle rods.

I just need more room to get both hands on grip when I'm trying to get extra distance into the wind. The feeling I get when my bottom hand is on butt shaft kinda reminds me of stepping in dog poop.

Fifty years of fishing and to have a rod fail on the corkless section of rod butt is still hard for me to understand. Never again.

Having both I like both depending on the situation. For instance on my heavy jig and large spoon I like the full handle, however soft plastics and squarebill I like split handle.

small lighter lures i find the splits ok, most are made to taper too fast though.

On a big crank chunking all day a split grip gives me bad hand cramps, a full doesn't

What you have to emrealize is:
The more stuff that is on a rod will make it less sensitive. Handles, wrapss, etc. less is better.

Agree. I don't like them. I got rid of the one I had.

I don't know if we are evenly split here or not, but I'm sure you split grip guys can understand our frustration when our preferred brands no longer offer our preferred handle. I have used the Crucial for the last several years and really like their OTC warranty. Now that I can't get that rod in my preferred handle I have to switch brands. Just a shame, that's all.

One more thought.....I just went to Kistler's site to check out their stuff and decided to play "let's build a custom rod". When selecting the type of casting handle, the cork split grip was an extra $20-$30 to the cost of the rod and the full cork handle is an extra $5 to the cost of the rod. I have a feeling if a full cork handle was more expense, they would reflect that in the cost to build. A split grip has more parts and more labor to assemble...can't cost less.

I prefer full grip cork handles with no foregrip also.

Rod companies jumped at the split grip fad (and are doing the same with micro guides) in order to lower material cost in their rods.....thus increasing their profit margin.

I used to could find the StCroix Tournament Legends in Bass Pro with full grips, not any more. I can still order them but its nice to be able to just pic one up and out the door instead of ordering online and not knowing exactly how its going to feel.

If the split grip gets snagged on your shirt why wouldn't a full grip snag it also? Do you cast differently with each?
