Can I freeze gizzard shad in the freezer then use it later, I've heard that the cats do not bite shad once its been frozen, usually I keep it on ice all week until the weekend.

I prefer fresh although frozen gizzard is better than none and gizzard shad freeze better than threadfin as they don't get as soft. JMHO

12" and up are the only ones worth freezing but frozen bait should always be a last resort.... Salt your ice and put the the shad on top - pull the drain plug and they should be fine!

Thank you guys for the input, I have been draining my cooler and replacing the ice all week in hopes that the shad will stay fresh, I have a bank spot out on tawakoni that I found last year but I only hit it once and did great. I'm hoping to go out there this weekend and get a 20+ blue cat,the best I've ever caught is about 10-15 lb. This is the year I get a 20+ cat.
