I have talked with a few buddies who claim the city released 1500 rainbow trout in those two ponds off Teasley in Denton. Has anyone else heard of this? I haven't been able to find anything official on it.

I've had the most luck out at south lakes with powerbait and corn, but you can use a ton of different bait as well as some lures, mainly rooster tails and super dupers. Check out the winter trout thread in the bank fishing section and you can find out almost everything you want to know from people who are far more experienced with trout fishing than I am.

I was able to get my limit in Waterloo Park last weekend in Denison using orange powerbait. They seem to like the bright colors.

I used to fish them heavy in northern Arkansas on the spring river. Up there we used small treble hooks and multi colored power bait or corn. Thats if you didn't know how to fly fish at least, which I don't. Thanks for the info on the location though I will head up there next weekend!!

Its the south pond. They stock every other Thursday. I can limit every time using berkly powerbait floating trout nuggets. Sunrise is the best color. Fish it with a slip weight off the bottom with a 12-16 inch leader. You must use a small hook so it will float. Cast out far toward the middle. Good luck!

Well, I answered my own question. I called TFFC in Athens 903-676-2277 and they said the goal is to be done before noon. They have multiple stockings on that trip so time can vary but they are almost always complete by noon. South Lake pond will get appx 360 fish. The 2500 listed on the TPWD web site is the total for the whole season. Good luck and have fun.....
