Impressive, Very Nice.
Looking at a New Boat sometime next year, and considering putting my HDS-10 on the Bow, and a HDS-12 Touch Screen for the Console. Give them a little time for you guys to see how they work.

Hey guys, just a question about how these things are sold. As I read the catalog, you have to order the side imaging transducer at $300 to which ever system you buy??? I don't understand the reasoning for this. Why would you buy the HDS 9 Touch and not need an SI transducer? Just curious.

The HDS transducer you're referring to must be LSS which is the structure scan module. With HDS9 Gen2 TouchInsight, you don't have to buy it separately, it's built in ( http://www.fishfinders.info/lowrance-hds-9-gen2-touch-insight-review) but you will need it if you buy the older version.

Bob, If I have serveral HDS units, like two at the console I would only need one lss transducer.

Available in 7", 9" & 12" display Currently there is only one model available with the LSS transducer and that would be in the 7" Gen2 Touch Series The 9 & 12 Gen2 Touch models will require the LSS2 structurescan transducer separate as it will not be in a bundle like in the 7" HDS Gen2 Touch Series" Lowrance HDS-7", 9" 12" Gen2 Touch Insight - No Transducer Lowrance HDS-7", 9" 12" Gen2 Touch Insight - 83/200kHz - T/M Transducer Lowrance HDS-7" Gen2 Touch Insight - 83/200kHz - T/M & Structure Scan Transducers (This is only available in the HDS-7 Gen Touch Insight Series) Lowrance HDS-7", 9" 12" Gen2 Touch Insight - 50/200kHz - T/M Transducer Gen1, Gen2 & the Gen2 Touch are all plug and play with any current LSS transducer & 83/200kHz 2D sonar transducer.

I got to go out and try it out on Friday for a little while. This thing is really great, its very easy to use and has very clear crisp image with side scan and down scan. I got it linked up to my hds 7 on the bow and now I got structure scan and di on the hds 7. I don't have the lss box. By linking it to the hds 9 it uses the internal si and di from the 9. Pretty sweet deal. It also can share its mapping system with hds 7 in 3d as well as the navionics card that I installed in the 9. I am really impressed with this unit.

fyi, you cannot share mapping cards between the two units..each unit must have its own mapping or mapping card. But on the HDS Touch units you can run both internal mapping (base or insight) and run a external mapping like the Navnionics the same time on a panel screen.

your 7 probably had insight mapping on it or you didn't switch the touch unit to read the navionics card and its reading the internal insight mapping.

Yes the 7 does have insight on it. I will have to look at it again. It definitely shares si and di with it though.
