Ladies, I could sure use your help. My wife has always fished with either a spin cast reel or a spinning reel. She is wanting to try using a bait cast for bass and white bass but afraid every time she will cast out will have a backlash. Is there a reel on the market that you ladies use and could recommend that is not prone to backlash every time. I know it will happen from time to time anyway. Thank you

not a lady here, but i would buy her any decent reel then load it with berkley fire line and adjust it up a little on the tight side till she gets use to casting it. if she does backlash the berkeley fire line picks out easy. be sure to get berkley fire line orginal. maybe that will help you.

I have a friend that doesn't fish very often but wanted to learn to use a bait caster. I bought an Enigma reel and rod combo from BPS. The combo was cheaper than the reel by itself.
It has several ways to make adjustments to prevent the back lash. Even intentionally trying was pretty tough. She has learned to use it tightened down and gradually opened it up as she became more used to the thumb control for the spool.
Hope this helps.

I use Abu Garcia Revo STX reels and love them! They are smaller in size and I rarely get backlashes
