 HDS-10 and DI?

I just ordered an HDS-10 but did not get the LSS yet. My question is do you have to have the LSS box to
do DI? I want DI more than SS at this time. I know that you have to have a DI transducer which should be cheaper than the SS one and the LSS box.

The SI and DI share the same ducer and you have to have the LSS1 or 2. So there is no way to do what you are wanting to do without the LSS box.

You might find some pretty cheap pretty soon. Many of the guys will start buying the new Gen 2 Touch HDS units and the LSS is built in the new graphs. Check the classified ads here and over at bassboatcentral.com. Lots of guys over there are upgrading their units.
Wow I just looked through the classifieds and those suckers sell fast! Keep an eye out and you'll get one.

How do the Elite series units do it without an LSS box. The SI and DI share the same ducer and you have to have the LSS1 or 2. So there is no way to do what you are wanting to do without the LSS box.

Elites are different and suck for DI quality and clarity. There is a new Elite 7 coming out in a few months and its going to change things up. It has broadband sonar and better DI, GPS and if a person buys the new HDS 9 or 12 Touch gen 2 then they can use the ducer that fits the Elite 7 (best for trolling motor applications where side scan doesn't work so well). In other words a person can buy a Touch unit without a ducer (to save money) and order a Elite 7 ducer (which will be cheaper) then put the smaller ducer on the trolling motor. Hope that makes sense.
The new Touch units seem like they are going to be the future for Lowrance, everybody that's used them has nothing but praises on them and the LSS is built into the graph.
