Thinking out loud here...

I have an old Team Daiwa-X 103HSDL reel that I am in need of bearings for.

My buddy (Johnny123) has been cleaning some of his reels and invited me over the other day and told me to bring any reels that needed cleaning. I had overdone it trying to clean up the HSDL (before I knew what I was doing) and a few other old Daiwa reels, two Team Daiwa-X 103HiLA reels and one Team Daiwa-X 103HiL. He and I cleaned and lubed the reels up nicely and cleaned the bearings up and added one drop of reel oil to each bearing. They are a ton better now but still noisy. I can tell they need new bearings. For being so old the reels the internal components are in very good shape inside but the bearings not so much.

I did find a complete bearing sets on the Boca website for the HiLA reels and the HiL looks to take the same exact bearings, but the TDX103HSDL I can't find any bearings for.

I did email Boca a month ago about a set for the HSDL and they said the HiLA set would work but upon seeing all the bearings in person the HSDL has a few different sized bearings. Glad I didn't order the set.

How would you guys go about finding bearings for this reel since I can't find a kit online? I suppose the best way would be to measure the actual bearings with a set of digital calipers and order individually to see if the sizes are available.

Thanks,

Will

N/M.

I disassembled an HiLA and the HSDL. Verified the HiLA econo complete bearing kit's measurements and emailed back Larry at Boca with the measurements of the HSDL bearing for a complete kit. We'll see how much they charge.

With those reels i would just get new stock bearings and that should be good enough. You might ask nitroman if he can get you stockers.

Yeah I was thinking of that already. I'm already guaranteed a 10% discount with Boca though.

Noted.

Johnny123 and I cleaned these reels up nicely and we took all the bearings out and cleaned them as well, but the reels are still noisy as hell even with a drop or two of oil on them. Considering their age I'm not surprised, but the reels are in perfect operating shape otherwise. New bearings will give these reels another long life for sure.
