I caught this near Kerrville, Texas, home of Johnnie Manziel and a pot bellied trout. The town may change its name to Manzielville.

I caught this near Kerrville, Texas. The name might be changed to Manzielville.

I grew up fishing for trout in some of the healthiest waters in Oregon and have NEVER seen a trout that fat. Thing looks like a freakin largemouth.

Great fish. Looks like you need bigger landing net.

Man what a piggy!

Kerville you say? Do the stockers go that far down? How interesting. You might want to show that to some officials. That's def not a recently stocked fish. And if it's not, I springs the question of how it survived.

Someone asked, and I caught the monster on a 4 wt bamboo rod.

Don't knock it until you try it. You just need 3X tippet, and you can land any freshwater fish on a small rod. The rod did not stress the fish. You play it off the butt, which would be equivalent to a 7 wt.

I caught the fish on a size 12 or 14 Clouser, tied with the tiniest bead chain eyes I could find.

FYI to others, not sure if this fish was part of their program, but the Fredericksburg Fly Fishers and Hill Country Fly Fishers (based in Kerrville) often stock winter trout in several water bodies near their towns.

I think that Rainbow got some revenge and ate a Kormoran bird lol! Looks like he has 2 fins on the side to help him chug along. Congrats on the amazing catch!

Tight lines,
